Fitness: Starting over

My fitness journey is a long a bumpy one and, as I finished a run at the gym tonight, I thought I'd document it in an attempt to keep myself on track (we'll see!).

As you can see from the photo above, 5k in almost 40 minutes isn't the best time but given that this was only my second gym visit in the last 3 months I'm pretty pleased I made it that far (small goals).

A few years ago I lost about 20lbs by really getting into treadmill running. I was training for a 10k (my first) and by the end of my training I was running around 30k a week. I got down to the lowest weight I had been since leaving university and felt amazing. Lean, toned and with bags of energy. I was even eating pretty much what I wanted because I was running it all off and more.

Then inevitably some of the weight crept back on and I was 7lbs heavier by the time we got married in late August 2011. Our honeymoon in Canada and the US saw another 14lbs go back on (cant resist that Mac & Cheese!) and since then the cosy, newly married weight has been creeping on and on and on...you get the picture!

Now I'm at the point where I am giving clothes to charity because I just don't think I'll ever fit into them again and that made me really sad.

I think the key to turning this around is to get back to some semblance of a routine where the gym is concerned. Whilst i would love to get back to the weight i was after training for that first 10k I also need to be realistic. If I can make it there 3 times a week, I'll be happy and hopefully putting this out there on my blog will help me stick to it

I'll keep a log of my progress (if there is any!).

Wishlist: July 2013

Although I have just bought a massive Boots haul after pay day (my pay day is the 18th...weird!), there are still a few things on my wishlist this month.

1 River Island White Floral Layered Multi Strap Cami Top £25

This floaty floral top is perfect for the heat wave we have been having in the UK this month. The layered effect is flattering and the floral pattern is feminine without being too girly. I would wear this with off white skinny jeans for a truly summery look

2 Laura Mercier Custom Artist Portfolio £65

After seeing Fleur's birthday gift video I immediately added this to my wishlist. Perfect for travel, this is every make-up lovers dream case.

3 Lov Organic Tea and Strainer Mug Gift Set £30.33

Although this is a travel set I would love to have this on my desk at work as a welcome replacement to the horrible drinks machine tea and the handy lid on the mug makes it easy to take your drink along to meetings without spillage!

4 Stella & Dot Renegade Cluster Bracelet - Silver £45

I have seen a few fashion bloggers wearing one of these little beauties recently, notably Atlantic-Pacific, and I finally managed to track it down. This will be mine very soon. I'll be layering it up with my watch and a few other cuffs and bracelets.

5 Stella & Dot Chelsea Tech Wallet - Leopard £45

Whilst I was on the Stella & Dot site I spotted this handy wallet and phone holder. Ideal for a night out so you don't havr to carry your purse and phone separately if you go to the bar or the ladies. The leopard pattern goes with most colours too so would work with a variety of outfits.

6 Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette £36

This has been on my wishlist for months and months and I still want to get my hands on it. Despite having the original Naked palette and using it regularly, this still tempts be. Particularly as the colours are on the cooler side than the original, which will work well with my pale skin.

Do any of these things take your fancy? What's your current wishlist?
